Joe Bowie qualified as a doctor in 1985 and trained in psychiatry in Aberdeen and Manchester. He has been employed as a consultant psychiatrist in the NHS since 1994 and his area of specialty is General Adult Psychiatry, with interests in rehabilitation and forensic psychiatry.
Since 2006 he has worked as a consultant in Rehabilitation Psychiatry for the Greater Manchester West NHS Foundation Trust (formerly the Bolton, Salford and Trafford NHS Mental Health Trust).
Before taking up this post he worked as a General Adult Psychiatrist in Trafford (1994-1997) and Macclesfield (1997-2006). He has had extensive experience of assessing and treating the full range of psychiatric disorders which affect adults of working age.
Since 2002 he has undertaken regular medico-legal work mainly in the area of criminal cases but also some MHRT work and personal injury.
He is also available to see patients privately for assessment and treatment.
